Just a few weeks after I started Transformation Marketing, I asked a group of solo business owners for feedback on some workshop titles. One title was "How to Grow Happy Customers in a Business You Enjoy," When I remarked that I really wanted to replace "enjoy" with "love," someone responded, "Love is such a strong word."

So, what's love got to do with business?

Here's my premise: When you love what you do, you strive to excel. When customers love what you deliver as well as the experience of interacting with you, they rave about your excellence and send other customers your way.

Most of us start and stay in business for ourselves primarily to meet emotional needs, not to make money. Research shows the top three reasons boil down to freedom, flexibility and fun. Some 3 out of 4 business owners want to make a livelihood using their talents and skills, in other words "doing what they love."

Small business owners (mostly women) also believe they will enjoy a better quality of life than is possible working for someone else. So, an ideal business allows you to fulfill your purpose, achieve financial freedom and enjoy your day-to- day life with family and friends.

Do you embrace this vision for your business?

I do. My goal is for Transformation Marketing to provide knowledge and tools
so you can use your time, talent and resources to create a business you love. It sounds like a tall order, but the ingredients are readily available. Every day presents a new opportunity to make your business more fulfilling and rewarding.
